    Homemade Grenadine

Grenadine is a pretty common mixer for stiff drinks and is usually a bright red color. I’d always thought it a product of some lab, maybe cough syrup gone bad, but I found out it’s really just pomegranate syrup. The stuff you buy in a bottle is usually full of questionable ingredients, so why not just make it yourself?

    So tonight I made some.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups pomegranate juice (I used Pom)
    • 1 cup sugar

    Directions:

    1. Bring juice to a boil over medium-high heat and reduce by half.
    2. Lower the heat and stir in one cup of sugar.
    3. Simmer for a couple of minutes until you have a clear, ruby colored syrup.
    4. Take it off the heat and let it cool.
    5. Enjoy!

Should store in the fridge for a couple weeks.
